World Cup push sees Onefootball hit 35 million users

Onefootball, the largest football platform worldwide, has reached a new milestone of 35 million global season active users.

The main growth pillars include Europe and the Americas, particular Latin America. With the biggest countries including Germany, Brazil, Italy, Mexico and the UK. On an average the Onefootball users enter the app around 40 times per month.

Caspar von Klot, VP Business Development of Onefootball, believes the growth is down to its ‘user-centric’ approach: “We are delivering our users a mix of global content bolstered by focused news around the user’s favourite team. Our global reach bolstered with hyperlocal context make the Onefootball app the most engaging platform for football fans irrespective of where they are based.”

Users of the Onefootball app are delivered aggregated content from around the world supported by content from local news sources. This means a Benfica fan in Brazil will be interacting with different content than a Juventus fan in Italy, but all will be using the same app.

Caspar explained: “As we have users all over the world, we have great insight into what football fans from different regions enjoy, which helps us improve the app and increase engagement.”

The app also contains a number of gamification features to enhance interaction and these to have also seen a substantial boost including 25 million match predictions per month and a record of 900,000 unique users voting on the outcome of the most recent Brazil vs. Switzerland match.

“As football fever reaches its peak at World Cup times, Onefootball will be at the heart of the digital experience for football fans around the world,” Caspar concluded. “We will be providing an unparalleled opportunity to reach players from all the corners of the globe just as the football community is coming together to enjoy the World Cup.”
