Ways to rank quicker in search engines

Committing to SEO is a long-term task. It can not only take time to rank, but regular website audits are also needed to ensure that you don’t end up on the wrong side of Google’s bots.

However, the process doesn’t have to be as arduous as you might imagine. Like with increasing visibility on social media, there are plenty of smart hacks that you can use to stand out.

Let’s talk about a couple of them. And don’t worry – we’re not going to ask you to decode a NASA rocket.

Identify key word gaps

Again, like on social media, everybody is fighting for the top words. That means that you could be tussling with thousands, if not millions of websites by using generic terms such as ‘sports betting’.

Sure, this works great if you’re one of the industry’s big hitters. But for everybody else, it’s pretty much a race to the bottom.

But here’s the thing – you’re not ‘everybody else’. You’re a member of the Affiverse community, so you’re smarter than that. Rather than trying to rank for the big terms, look for less popular keywords that your target audience is likely to use. You’ll have less competition, meaning that there are fewer barriers to you ranking higher.

Have you got older content? Update it

Okay, so all content has a shelf life. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t extend this by getting old blog posts up-to-date.

No matter what your niche is, there’s a chance that things look very different now compared to last year. And if users are coming to your site, we’re sure you don’t want to feed them inaccurate news.

Think about a) what’s changed since you wrote the original piece and b) what your audience is searching for. Once you’ve done both of these, alter your content accordingly. This keeps what’s on your site evergreen for longer, while also helping you to rank higher in search results.

Social media not only allows you to share content with your existing audience, but also helps with finding new users. Either way, the end result (if done correctly) is extra traffic to your site.

Even if there are accounts that have followed you for years, there’s no guarantee that they saw your content first time around. This is also why you should be sharing all of your best posts more than once anyway.

If you have the budget to do so, consider boosting your work via paid advertising too. That will not only bring more users to your site, but also could also boost your social following in the process.

Final thoughts

You don’t need a degree in coding to rank quicker in search engines. Whether you’re just starting out or have stagnated, there are plenty of ways to make your presence known.

We all want ‘position 0’ for the most-searched keyword, and that’s the exact problem. Because there are so many sites vying for the same thing, it makes sense to look where you can stand out with more ease.

Updating older content will keep it more current to your readers, while also making it more relevant to what they’re searching for now and not one year ago. And once you’ve done this, why not share it on social media? Maybe you can even make it an annual thing where you share updated versions of your important posts, giving your followers something to look forward to.

Take our tips on board. But when all is said and done, remember that building a sustainable SEO strategy takes time.
