Sportsbet.io added to Swiss iGaming blacklist

Official betting partner of Arsenal FC, Sportsbet.io has been added to a blacklist of iGaming operators who are unlicensed in Switzerland. They are not alone, however, as 35 other new domains have also been added to the ever-growing list.

Bad news for Spotsbet.io

Only last month Sportsbet.io was listed as the official betting partner of Arsenal FC. This came as after their official UK launch using a white label license from TGP Europe. They have also been announced as a shirt sponsor for Southampton FC in time for the upcoming season.

However, they are now one of 142 domains that the Swiss telecommunications service providers have blacklisted. This change has been ordered under the Eidgenössische Spielbankenkommission who regulate the industry in Switzerland.

A growing list

The Swiss blacklist was first published back in September last year but has been growing ever since. One of the most notable names to make the list when it was first published was Bet365, a leading operator in the industry.

Other sites to be added to the list since it was updated just two months ago include Campobet.com, Bc.game and Allrightcasino.com. This is surely a large blow to these operators and the staff.

The ESBK are continuing to update this list on a regular basis as they clamp down on unlicensed operators in the country. Some sites are also added by the Inter-Cantonal Lotteries and Betting Commission. While this news might be disappointing to these operators, it now very clear that licensing is important in Switzerland and across Europe and operators must fall in line.
