Sky Betting and Gaming (Sky Bet) has prevented its users from accessing its Sky Bet Italia portal and transactions as the operator prepares for its merger with new owner The Stars Group.
Whilst Sky Bet Italia undertakes its transition, the Italian betting portal will direct its customers towards BetStars.it services. Sky Bet has assured its customers that all users can still log-in to Sky Bet Italia accounts and process any relevant withdrawals.
The betting company confirmed to SBC that it will not be withdrawing from the Italian betting market, where it has operated since November 2016.
The UK operator has recently entered a period of strategic realignment for a number of its online gambling assets, as the leadership team develops a new corporate strategy to fit alongside that of The Stars Group.
“Once Sky Betting & Gaming became part of The Stars Group, plans were made to bring together the best parts of both businesses,” Sky Bet has revealed to SBC.
“In Italy this will be a Sky Bet sportsbook alongside PokerStars and PokerStars Casino – providing the ultimate online gaming experience to our Italian customers.
