September revenue increases for Rhode Island sports betting

Rhode Island sports betting revenue has almost tripled month-on-month to a total of $2.5m for September, where they have seen an increase in retail betting accompanied by the first contribution from mobile.

The total market revenue was up 195.4 per cent  $851,778 in August. This broke the previous monthly record of $2.2m set in June of this year. Players have come to wager $22.2m, representing a 120.6 per cent increase on the previous months’ $10.1m.

As the market originally opened in November 2018, year-on-year comparisons are not available yet.

Retail has remained the most popular form of sports betting during the month of September. Consumers spent g $18.9m at the Twin River Casino in Lincoln and Twin River Tiverton site. This was up 177.7% from a total retail spend of $10.6m in August, prior to the launch of mobile sports betting.

Twin River’s Lincoln facility was the most popular by a big margin of the states two sports betting venues, they generated $1.6m in land-based revenue, up from $607,836 in August. Consumers have placed $15.3m in retail wagers at the site, up 98% from in the previous month.

At the Twin River Tiverton, retail revenue came to increase from $243,952 in August to $438,790. Players have also spent more on retail bets, with the $3.6m in September being 54.0% ahead of $2.3m in August.

Within the mobile industry, which launched on September 4, saw their revenue amount to $512,740 after players staked $3.3m in the month.

Players have to register in person at either ofRhode Island’s casinos (Tiverton began registering players from September 18) before they can bet via smartphones.
