RAiG chief Clive Hawkswood joins beBettor

Responsible Affiliates in Gaming (RAiG) Chair Clive Hawkswood has joined beBettor as a Non-Executive Director.

Hawkswood joined RAiG in May 2019, having concluded his 14 years at the Remote Gaming Association (RGA) beforehand.

At a time when UKGC licensees have been told about their affordability check obligations, Hawkswood will be responsible for helping the company to encourage responsible gambling measures.

“Key to us”

beBettor Chief Executive Harry Cott expressed his delight at Hawkswood joining the company. His words were as follows.

“We are delighted to officially announce Clive joining beBettor’s Board of Directors.

“We see his experience as the previous CEO of the RGA as invaluable, understanding the concerns of the industry whilst delivering on consumer protection initiatives such as Gamstop.

“His knowledge and guidance will be key to us fulfilling our ambitions in helping shape the future of sustainable gambling.”

Hawkswood also shared his thoughts on joining beBettor, which are below.

“beBettor’s innovative approach to affordability has provided a new, scalable solution that allows operators to understand more about their entire customer base.

“Their vision for the Single Customer View shows an exciting future for the industry that will ultimately benefit and protect the player in ways that were not previously possible.”

The Affordability Check product

beBettor’s Affordability Check product allows operators to ensure that players don’t spend beyond their means. It is an automated service and tailors interactions to each customer’s specific circumstances.

The product also determines which players are at risk, which could include people on bankruptcy or insolvency registers.

beBettor is also collaborating with the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) to create a single view customer platform. This will provide both operators and regulators with insights into customer activity across all brands and products. The company noted that Hawkswood’s experience in cross-sector collaboration will benefit them greatly with this project.

In the past, the 61-year-old was a founding board member of National Online Self Exclusion Scheme Limited – which operates GAMSTOP.
