Belgium adds four more online casinos to igaming blacklist

The Belgian Gambling Commission has added four online casinos to its blacklist of unlicensed online gambling platforms. Usoftgaming’s PH Casino, Gammix’s Locowin.com, Pro Xenon Mediathek’s Kajot-Casino.com, and Goldwin’s Westcasino.com are the latest domains to be added to the list.

The consequences

Online casinos found to be operating without a license in Belgium face a fine of between €100 (£85.97) and €100,000 (£85,970).

Consumers caught gambling on these illegal sites can also expect a fine of between €26 (£22.35) and €25,000 (£21,496). They also run the risk of facing criminal charges.

A history of the blacklist

The blacklist was first published in February 2012 with several domains added in 2021 so far. In April, the Commission added Dixcasino.com, Gamdom.com, Stake.com, and Fastpay-casino.com.

A month prior, 15 illegal operators were added including betonline.ag, sportsbetting.ag, tigerbetting.ag, bonkersbet.com, librabet.com, and bitcasino.io.

A number of high-profile online casinos have also been added in the past such as William Hill, Bet365, Betfair, and Betvictor.

An overview of the Belgian gambling market

As 2020 drew to a close, Belgium reported the highest amount of active online gambling license holders ever. This grew from just 15,607 in 2019 to 15,997 a year later.

In April this year, the country continued to introduce safe gambling measures for its online players by launching its ‘Always Play Legally’ campaign. It aimed to deter consumers from playing on unlicensed or illegal domains.
