New Jersey releases February iGaming figures

The New Jersey Division for Gaming Enforcement (DGE) has revealed the market’s figures for February, reporting a year-on-year increase.

Despite generating more revenue than in February 2019, month-on-month revenue dropped.

February 2020 figures

Sports betting revenue for the month hit $17 million, a 33.8% increase on last February’s total. In that month, sportsbooks in the Garden State made $12.7 million.

However, this was significantly lower (68.3%) lower than January 2020’s total of $53.6 million. That was the highest-ever figure that the state had recorded.

Players bet $494.8 million on sports in February, a 54.4% increase on the same time period in 2019. $436.5 million of this was placed online, with $58.3 million being wagered at retail outlets. These figures mean that 88.2% of sports bets in New Jersey are wagered via digital means, compared to 87% in February 2019.

In the two full months of 2020, sports betting handle in New Jersey has already gone beyond $1 billion (hitting $1.03 billion).

When it comes to online casino and poker, overall revenue hit $52 million – a 63.7% year-on-year rise. Poker went slightly down, while earnings from other games went up by 67.6% to $50.2 million.

The main sportsbooks

DraftKings took the largest share in the state’s market last month, making $19.8 million in iGaming revenue.

Resorts Digital was second, with revenue of $12.5 million – an 87.2% year-on-year increase. Meanwhile, Borgata’s brought in $8.1 million from online gambling – 80.6% more than the previous February.

Last year, New Jersey handled $4.58 billion in total bets.
