Mock-ups of longer Twitter Tweets released

In a fairly uncontroversial move from Twitter, the social media platform has confirmed its newest feature: longer Tweets. Elon Musk’s Twitter 2.0 is set to launch the concept of longer tweets and confirmed it with a set of mock-ups released to Twitter.

Twitter designer Andrea Conway recently posted the mock-ups to her Twitter account showing what the longer tweets could potentially look like once launched and active on the site.

So, what do people think of this new feature? Well, on the one hand, Twitter’s identity has always been short, sharp, hot takes that go instantly viral due to the quick execution and intake of tweets. On the other hand, that leaves a lot of room for misinterpretation and simply doesn’t allow for a more nuanced conversation on a platform that has gained a reputation for being the online space of debate and discussion – and everything else to be fair.

But what will this mean for marketers? Well, the short option is still there. If you have found that your campaign benefits from short, sharp, interactions with users, you can continue on in that way, but there is the option to extend your point if you need it.

But the drawback is that this privilege is rumoured to be only available to Twitter Blue subscribers.
