Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram: Updates you might have missed

Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram are working on new features – which could have some use to affiliates.

Below is a quick round-up.

Facebook working on its speech capabilities

Facebook has begun a new program, titled ‘Pronunciations‘. As you can probably gather from the name, its purpose is to improve the site’s speech recognition capabilities.

At the moment, this feature is in the testing stage. The website is getting participants to record themselves saying “Hey Portal”, plus a name of someone from their friends list.

The social media giant has also launched a new products section, called ‘Hobbi‘. Its layout isn’t too dissimilar to that of Pinterest. As mentioned in The Verge, and according to the Facebook App Store page, users can do the following:

“capture and organise your creative process”, with the inclusion of home decor, baking, fitness and so on.

There isn’t a sharing feature on this at the moment, but projects can be put into videos once they’re done.

Instagram tests ‘Latest Posts’

Remember the days when Instagram posts were in chronological order? It’s almost as distant of a memory as images not being posted in a 4:5 format. And those who miss seeing posts in the order they were posted might soon have their prayers answered.

According to a TechCrunch article, Instagram is testing a “Latest Posts” feature. When users open the app, a pop-up encouraging them to engage with recent shares will appear.

The prototype was confirmed by Instagram when the publication contacted them. However, it didn’t provide further comments.

LinkedIn launches new profile feature

LinkedIn is launching a new feature that will enable users to show off their achievements at the top of their profile. Individuals will also be able to push their skills, competencies and so on further up.

According to the professional networking platform:”The Featured section allows you to showcase samples of your work to people who view your LinkedIn profile. This is a great way to provide evidence of your skills and experience.”
