DraftKings launches New Jersey mobile casino app

NASDAQ-listed DraftKings has launched a standalone casino app for mobile users in the state of New Jersey.

The Boston-headquartered operator has, like was the case for its sports betting and daily fantasy sports (DFS) offerings, developed the casino app using in-house technology.

Players will be able to find a mixture of DraftKings-exclusive products, as well as casino classics such as blackjack.

Along with the operators’ own technology, some of the games available on its app will be provided by third-party developers.

Demand for a modern gaming experience

In a recent study led by DraftKings, it was revealed that 70% of new DraftKings Casino customers place their first bet on games branded by the company. According to the operator, this highlights “the existing appetite and demand for a modernized customer experience, complete with built-to-scale games and a customisable user interface”.

DraftKings Casino has been included in the operator’s sportsbook app since 2018. However, earlier this year it launched a standalone product in Pennsylvania. The operator has said that it’s willing to expand into further states across the country, where digital casino wagering is permitted and regulated.

Prior to introducing its product to the Keystone State, the operator had carried out significant research. It aims to reach a broader player base across the US through diversifying its core offerings.

DraftKings Vice President Jason King spoke about the launch of the New Jersey mobile casino app, with his thoughts being as follows.

“We are thrilled to break new ground for DraftKings in the gaming space today with the launch of our DraftKings Casino app, the company’s first perennial product that operates year-round irrespective of the annual sports schedules.

“Following our debut in the Garden State, we look forward to continued innovation, nationwide expansion where regulations allow, and to further positioning DraftKings as an all-inclusive gaming and entertainment experience.”

Other key things to note

In addition to blackjack, the DraftKings Casino mobile app will include other popular titles such as roulette.

Some of the third-party gaming suppliers that will feature on the app are International Gaming Technology, Slingo and Scientific Games. DraftKings, which partnered with SBTech last December, will also provide New Jersey players with 24/7 access to its Live Studio.

The DraftKings Casino app is downloadable via iOS.
