DraftKings and Betblocker to partner up for responsible gaming

The non-for-profit iGaming organization Betblocker is teaming up with sports betting operator DraftKings in a plan to collaborate and improve responsible gaming for players.

The two operations are looking to raise awareness of responsible gaming and tools the two have in place to encourage the idea, including BetBlocker’s self-exclusion software.

The software allows players to set restrictions on their gambling across various devices for thousands of iGaming sites and can work across lots of regions. It doesn’t matter if the site is regulated or licensed, the self-exclusion software will work.

The tool is free and doesn’t harvest personal data so users can download it anonymously. The tool allows users to adjust their restrictions as they see fit, with options that range from days to years.

What has DraftKings got to say?

DraftKings’ senior director of responsible gaming, Chrissy Thurmond said: “Betblocker’s contributions to safer play are commendable and DraftKings is pleased to team up with this enterprising and disruptive not-for-profit that is advancing responsible gaming in a comprehensive and consumer-friendly way,”

“We share Betblocker’s vision that technology and innovation are critical to promoting safer play, and we extend a warm welcome to BetBlocker as they build their footprint in North America, following widespread success across the pond.”

What has BetBlocker got to say?

In a statement, Betblocker’s chief of safer gambling partnerships, Pedro Romero, said: “Betblocker is thrilled to have the support of sports betting and gaming industry giant, DraftKings, to extend our software outside of the UK and Europe, to players in the United States and Canada.”

“We’ve been impressed with DraftKings’ leadership in responsible gaming, and we are grateful for their collaboration and financial support as we look to expand awareness of safer play technology.

“We encourage other operators to follow DraftKings’ example of going above and beyond what is required region by region, to ensure all players have the knowledge and tools to bet responsibly.”
