DMF Panel Preview: Esports – is it really a revenue opportunity for traditional affiliates?

There are only four more weeks to go until the second edition of the SBC Digital Marketing Forum (DMF), and in the run up to the event, we are carrying out previews of the panels taking place.

The panels promise to address some of the industry’s burning questions with top-quality content and some of the biggest names in the affiliate and digital marketing sectors.

The Forum will run alongside Betting on Sports 2019 and CasinoBeats Summit, and will address issues such as global opportunities for affiliates and marketers, the rise of esports, and the importance of video content marketing as a conversion stream.

This week’s panel preview relates specifically to the ‘Esports – is it really a revenue opportunity for traditional affiliates?’ panel, which seeks to address how Esports and Traditional betting is now faring a year on.

Panellists will include Heaven Media’s Mark Reed, Luckbox.com’s Sujoy Roy and Sarah McChesney-Gordon from Fresh8

Sarah McChesney-Gordon is Fresh8 Gaming’s Client Services Director, responsible for the expansion of Fresh8’s global network of sports publishers and sports betting operators.

Before joining Fresh8, she was Perform Group’s Betting Commercial Manager, responsible for Perform’s global betting advertising revenue, affiliate sales and betting product development.

Sarah started her career in the industry at 188BET, managing key sponsorship accounts, before moving in to a role launching 188BET’s Affiliate programme in the UK.

Mark Reed, meanwhile, is a subject-matter expert in Online Gaming and PC hardware, including VR\AR, with over twenty years’ experience within the global technology industry. He set up Heaven Media in 2006, which has since established itself as a leading marketing agency within the eSports and Gaming arena. Heaven Media provides solutions spanning the full range of content creation, influencer and eSports sponsorship and event delivery.

Sujoy was the UK’s first professional gamer and has more than 20 years’ experience in esports. Sujoy played a significant role in the growth of the industry, with event organisation and community creation. Sujoy joined esports betting startup Luckbox in 2018 after working on special projects with ESL.

The panellists will address how the market is still fragmented but it does present a massive opportunity for affiliates to still cash in.

The three panellists will draw upon their wealth of experience in the esports sector to focus upon where the sector is headed and how acquisition marketers are converting esports customers online.

When pressed for what he thought on the advent of omnichannel marketing and how it related to esports, Sujoy explained: “Affiliate marketing will continue to be more agile than operators. For esports specifically it will continue to be a challenge to work directly with certain partners that cannot directly approve of gambling.

“Affiliates offer reach into parts of the market that operators will always struggle with. However, effective affiliates will need to offer more than just an SEO-friendly portal particularly in esports.”

With industry-leading speakers taking part in an array of in-depth training workshops and expert lead panel discussions over the one day conference it really offers incredible value for attendees.
