Camelot Lottery Solutions confirms David Kelly as company chair

Camelot Lottery Solutions has appointed David Kelly as Chair of the company, while Gill Whitehead has been appointed as a new, non-executive director of Camelot UK Lotteries.

Kelly, who has served as a non-executive director at Camelot UK lotteries since 2014, has also held a number of other senior roles across a variety of sectors, including chief operating officer of eBay Inc. and operations director at Amazon.co.uk.

He celebrated his new appointment: “I’m proud to be part of a company with such a strong heritage in building successful global lotteries, based on modern digital solutions like mobile, cloud and data.

“I look forward to working with the management team and board to continue the company’s legacy of driving responsible lottery growth by engaging players and increasing benefits returned to local communities.”

He also holds the position of chairman of Simply Business, an online insurance broker, and holiday retailer On The Beach while also acting as a non-executive director at newspaper group Reach Plc, The Gym Group and Holiday Extras.

Wayne Pickup, chief executive of Camelot Lottery Solutions, added: “David has an incredible pedigree in leading internet and technology businesses, from start-ups to fast-scaling and established global brands, and his expertise will be instrumental in guiding the future success of Camelot Lottery Solutions.”

Whitehead, meanwhile, joins the company after spending over 20 years of experience serving major corporations such as Google, the BBC and Channel 4. Prior to her time at Camelot UK Lotteries, Whitehead worked for BBC Worldwide for three years, and spent five years with Deloitte.

Camelot chairman, Sir Hugh Robertson, added: “I would like to welcome Gill – whose extensive experience in digital transformation, data and analytics, and consumer insight within high-calibre UK businesses will ensure that innovation continues to be at the forefront of our strategy.

“She is an ideal fit to continue to boost the standard and skill set of our board, and I very much look forward to working with her.

“At the same time, I’d like to take this opportunity to personally thank David for his expertise and guidance since I joined last summer, and also for his over four years of tenure on the board.”
