Boost in betting reported by Oddschecker

Sports betting affiliate and media portal Oddschecker, has seen a significant rise in betting volume based on the number of bets which have been placed on the site by 20 percent since last year, as detailed in its H2 stats results.

The volume of bets recorded within the Oddschecker platform increased, with activity on mobile and desktop products for both football and racing seeing a 23 percent and 10 percent increase respectively.

Premier League results have seen a slight regression with the period from January to June 2019, which has mainly been attributed to a ‘punter-friendly season’.

Oddschecker explained: “With big 6 winning favourites hitting a staggering 80% over H1, H2 saw a welcome number of favourites falter for operators as well as fewer goals and fewer games with both teams netting, as the league took its final shape. However this upside was slightly offset by the record 35 day draw-less run in March / April.”

“In terms of bookmaker positioning from a Premier League price / market share perspective, bet365 continued to lead the way with their fairly aggressive and unwavering pricing attracting a growing and dominant share of attention on the 1×2 market.

MarathonBet continue to offer the tightest book, whilst Paddy Power managed to attract strong market share growth despite increasing their overround nearly 1pp from H1 to H2.”

A tougher run for racing

In addition to this, racing faced a tough few months for February and March, as bookmakers saw close to 39 per cent of punters winning on horse racing favourites. However according to Oddschecker, this was offset as jumps made way for the flat and as new form-lines unfolded’.

The results added: “Despite all three major festivals seeing sub 32% winning favs, wider placing provided some relief for punters as firms competed for market share.

“Alongside this, volume weight towards the Grand National itself (won by fav Tiger Roll), and events such as Frankie’s super Royal Ascot 4-fold offset some of the upside of such low winning fav %’s.”

Significant increases in app betting traffic

Oddschecker have also shared good news for affiliates too, with the report stating that app bets have increased from 19 percent to to 32 per cent. Suggesting that affiliates have more of an opportunity to add extra traffic to their sites through the increase in players.

This could be integrated within the new features which have been announced within Oddschecker apps; with complex multiple bets, accumulator odds comparison and muti-bookmaker bet history becoming available. In-play betting will also become available on Oddschecker apps too.
