Betting on Sports America scores strategic IAGA partnership

The International Association of Gaming Advisors (IAGA) has thrown its backing behind Betting on Sports America (BOSA), as the SBC-organised event bids to become the most relevant and reputable conference focused on the newly liberalised US sports betting market.

It is hoped that this partnership with the IAGA will provide an extra level of credibility to the #bosamerica conference agenda, which boasts an array of affiliate-relevant content – including a full track dedicated to sponsorship and marketing. In particular, a panel entitled ‘Reaching an audience – where do affiliates sit in the new market?’ touches on the role of affiliates in the fledgling US sports betting market.

The association has agreed to support the first running of the event in New Jersey from 23-25 April 2019. The Meadowlands Exposition Center will host 1500 delegates and 60 exhibitors across 61,000 sq ft of exhibition space, as well as 175 leading industry speakers.

The IAGA, which counts IGT and MGM Resorts among its annual sponsors, is a collaborative forum designed to facilitate discussions around key issues that affect global gaming. The organisation has been around since 1980, and has seen its membership expand to include a wide range of industry financial experts, casino executives, regulators, consultants and educators from around the world.

Other key issues include the tribal response to new sports betting regulation, why effective geolocation is essential to staying compliant with state laws, how to take bets on college football without endangering its players, and whether the outdated Wire Act should be completely reworked to provide a future-proof regulatory framework.

Andrew McCarron, Managing Director of SBC, said: “This arrangement will help to cement Betting on Sports America’s status as the most important and relevant event for those active in the US sports betting market. There are clear parallels to be drawn between BOSA and IAGA, as both facilitate an unrivalled level of discussion around key industry issues.”

Kirsten Clark, Director of the IAGA, added: “IAGA is pleased to partner with SBC to support its 2019 Betting on Sports America conference. Educating the North America market on how sports betting is offered and protected in other markets is of critical importance to our members and sponsors, and we look forward to helping SBC identify topical experts to participate in the conference panels.
