ATG set to publish responsible gambling data

Swedish horseracing and betting operator ATG has confirmed that it will begin publishing data related to its processes to combat problem gambling in a bid to increase transparency.

Starting next year, ATG will publish the data every six months, with a focus on four key areas.

First, the company will disclose the percentage of players that have been contacted after displaying signs of problem gambling. Information on what effect this contact had will also be released, as will how much said players reduced their gambling and if any stopped gambling entirely.

“We see this initiative as a first, and big, step in the work to improve the reputation of the gaming industry. The amount of people gambling has increased alongside the potential of companies taking responsibility for those who are at risk of developing harmful gambling practices.

Operators offer the opportunity to play and therefore have the heavy responsibility of identifying and stopping players that may be at risk of problem gambling. By sharing this internal information, investors, politicians, our customers, and the public are given the opportunity to evaluate us and how we push to strive for more responsible gambling,” said ATG Chief Executive Hasse Lord Skarplöth.

The move comes after Svesnka Spel and Kindred also committed to publishing responsible gambling data in Sweden.
