Apple could give the go-ahead for casino apps in South Korea

Affiliates will soon be able to focus upon both building and launching new casino apps tailored towards a South Korean audience, according to a recent email sent to application developers by Apple

According to the email, Apple has stated that it has been working alongside the government of the Republic of Korea to make casino applications available in the country, while also announcing that apps marked as having “Frequent/Intense Simulated Gambling” will be rated 17+ in all countries and regions.

Gambling apps meeting certain related criteria will also be newly available to users in South Korea, but only to users 19 years of age or older.

The email explained: “In an effort to open up additional opportunities for developers, we’ve worked with the government of the Republic of Korea on making more apps available on the App Store in the Republic of Korea.

“If your app meets at least one of the criteria below, you’ll be able to offer it on the App Store in the Republic of Korea to users 19 years of age or older.”

The decision will present new opportunities for affiliates looking to work within the Asian gaming market, offering a whole new demographic of punters to promote casino products to.
