Affiverse Amplify Summit Recap – Blockchain and Crypto – Looking Forward to Web 3.0

At the Affiverse Amplify Summit in January, we took the opportunity to discuss some of the biggest innovations that are primed to make real waves in the industry. One of these concepts formed the basis of discussions for the second panel of Day 2 – Blockchain and Crypto – Looking Forward to Web 3.0.

As always, this panel was moderated by Affiverse’s CEO and Founder Lee-Ann Johnstone and it was sponsored by SpotGaming.

The experts sharing insights on this panel were:

  • Becky Liggero, Lead Content Creator at CoinGeek
  • Luke Rohenaz, Founder of Tonic Pow
  • Mathew Dickson, Founder of Bitboss.io
  • Oron Barber, Founder of blockchain agency Coinpoint.net

In an hour, they discussed many of the most interesting aspects of this sector. The interest in blockchain and crypto has been growing year on year, and their expert insight told us more about what we should be looking into should affiliate programs move into this area.

An overview of blockchain and crypto

One of the main points discussed here was whether affiliate marketers and managers should be considering blockchain, and crypto along with it, for their business. These are relatively new systems, so there has to be a consideration as to whether or not this will be beneficial for a company or just a way of jumping on a trendy bandwagon.

Blockchain is a system of recording information in a way that makes it very difficult or even impossible to change, hack, or cheat the system. Head back two or three years, and it was only casino and online gaming brands that were using blockchain and crypto. This has changed massively, however, and it is now a lot more mainstream.

As an example, for web developers, it is easier than ever before to hook websites up with blockchain technology. This enables micro-payment using crypto, but can also be used across apps, social media, and digital products.

To those who have not yet looked into it, it can appear to be quite confusing. However, it is very flexible and offers a lot of potential. Now could be the perfect time to consider it for your business and affiliate programs.

The future of blockchain and crypto

Many of the panellists agreed that blockchain is a missed opportunity that affiliate managers need to start implementing as soon as they can if they wish to stay ahead of their competition. One of the most accessible ways to do so will be with the introduction of micro-payments. These are an accessible way to get into this area, and they are increasingly becoming something of interest for customers.

Blockchain and crypto is also something that is becoming quite common in the casino and online gaming world. It makes the process of moving money around a lot faster and more effective. It can also be more cost-effective to do so than to use other systems too.

For this reason, we might also see blockchain and crypto coming into the retail industry to a far greater extent. In casinos, these transactions are handled using handheld devices – making for a speedy and efficient transaction. It is thought that the retail industry will look to adopt something similar in the future.

Affiliate managers can even begin to consider paying their affiliate partners in crypto. Their websites could begin to include crypto wallets in their browser. This should help to speed up payments, especially when they need to manage different currencies.

Advice to affiliate managers

The main advice our panellists were able to offer affiliate managers is that they should “dip their toes in the water” with regards to blockchain and crypto. Many industries are starting to embrace it and look into ways that they can add it to their operations. If there ever was a time to get to grips with it and learn more about it, it would be now.

Crucially, it could set you ahead of your competition. It is a new way to connect to your customers, provide them with a unique experience, and let them take advantage of this new tech and innovation. It could also be the right time for you to specialise in such an area and make it your expertise. By making it your USP, you could easily push yourself ahead of your competition in a way that is very different from anything your competitors might be doing.

Make sure to fully explore this sector. For example, you could look to the utility side of NFTs, and how they can be used in a practical way for user experience.

If in doubt – ask. The experts in this field are passionate and always willing to share their knowledge with newcomers.
