Affiliate Spotlight: David Archer, WhichBookie.co.uk

Today we speak to David Archer of WhichBookie.co.uk. Recently, David brought on Southampton FC legend Matthew Le Tissier as an ambassador for the website.

In addition to the high-profile partnership, WhichBookie is also working on a host of other marketing areas.

David talks to us about increasing the website’s awareness, as well as the activities it is getting involved in to do this.

AffiliateINISDER: Tell us a bit about the ambassador partnership with Le Tiss. How do you think he will help to boost awareness of your site in the UK?

David Archer: “I worked with Matt in a similar capacity before a few years ago when I had the freebets.com site, and the partnership worked very well then.

“When I acquired www.whichbookie.co.uk last year, I enquired about Matt’s availability to join the team again. But whilst working with Sky Sports, he was restricted.

“Once the opportunity to work with him again arose this month, I jumped straight in. He has over 500,000 Twitter followers and holds a unique place in Premier League history, and it’s great to have him on board as an ambassador.

“We also have a great horse racing Tipster on WhichBookie with Will Smith (who also worked with us at freebets), so I was keen to find a Football pundit who could help our brand reach a wider audience.”

AI: Many companies have cut back on their spending during the ongoing pandemic. Would you argue that they would benefit from doing the opposite?

DA: “Many businesses have suffered a sharp fall in revenue and therefore had to cut costs accordingly. Every business and sector is different and it’s not for me to say how other companies should be run.

“At Whichbookie, we are in the very early stages of developing a brand and it’s important for us to increase awareness. We now have a great website and fresh content, and it’s the right stage in the cycle for us to be increasing our marketing spend.”

AI: What other marketing activities have you been getting involved in, and what was the thinking behind these?

DA: “During the summer, we became the exclusive online betting partner for Gateshead FC. This worked very well because as soon as the 2019/20 season restarted Gateshead made it to the National League play-offs, only to be beaten in the semi-final.

“We have great hopes for them this season and they have a good, loyal fanbase. We are also doing more on social media now, in particular on Twitter, and have also started doing some PPC in the UK, which is going wellI anticipate that we will double our marketing spend over the next 12 months.”

AI: Are you looking at any other markets that you’d like to expand into soon? If so, which ones?

DA: “Yes. We have the Whichbookie.com site for all markets outside of the UK, and the plan is to really develop this in the early part of next year. We are looking at the US, as well as the major European markets, and will start the licensing process before the end of 2020 hopefully.”
